Apple’s Next Move Revealed; M4-Powered Macs Slated For Late 2024

Apple is reportedly planning to bring its new M4 chipset, first launched in May, to several Mac devices later this year. This move is notable as it marks the M4 chip’s first appearance in Macs, having previously debuted in the iPad Pro (2024).

According to a report, we might see these new M4-powered Macs about a month after the expected September release of the iPhone 16 series, possibly in October. However, Apple has yet to confirm any specific launch dates.

This report indicates that Apple is testing four new Mac models, labeled 16.1, 16.2, 16.3, and 16.10. These updates are likely to include a refreshed Mac mini, new versions of the MacBook Pro, and updated iMac models, all featuring the M4 chip. One of the exciting upgrades is the increase in base RAM to 16GB, up from the previous 8GB. Additionally, users can expect options for 16GB and 32GB RAM, which is an upgrade from the maximum 24GB offered in the top-end M3 MacBook.

The new Mac models are also rumored to have powerful configurations, with three of them featuring a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, while the fourth might have an 8-core CPU and GPU. This setup mirrors the high-performance configuration seen in the iPad Pro (2024), suggesting that the new Macs will deliver substantial performance boosts.

While these details are intriguing, it’s important to remember that nothing has been officially confirmed by Apple yet. Last year, Apple released the current M3-powered MacBook Pro models, and earlier this year, new 13 and 15-inch M3 MacBook Air models were introduced.

Apple’s potential rollout of M4-powered Macs represents a significant leap forward in performance and capability. With increased base RAM and enhanced CPU and GPU options, these new devices could offer impressive improvements over existing models. Until Apple makes an official announcement, these details remain speculative, but they underscore Apple’s ongoing drive to push the limits of performance and innovation in their product lineup.
