Aamir Khan once quipped, “Technology and me are so far removed.” In the recent promo with director Kiran Rao for their production, Laapata Ladies, Khan reiterated that he has always been behind in terms of technology. At the ABP Ideas of India Summit 3.0, the Bollywood actor, director, and producer dropped his two cents on the latest marvel of technology, ‘AI’, with the same tech-agnostic approach. The actor stated that “AI is taking the world by storm.” He remarked that the world will continue to witness new kinds of technologies.

Mr. Perfectionist further added that there’s nothing we can do to “curb a new technology.” He suggests that “there’s no stopping it either” and that we have to “learn to evolve with it.” Kiran Rao echoed Khan’s sentiments, stating that we can not possibly stop AI as we are all utilizing it in some form of technology. She remarks that “it depends on how well we can use it.”
Aamir once revealed how Shah Rukh Khan, a tech aficionado, got him a Toshiba laptop in 1996, but the Lagaan actor never opened the device. For the uninitiated, SRK was one of the early adopters of premium Apple gadgets like the iPod and iPhone in India. Ritiesh Deshmukh, during a Mumbai Journey interview, vouched for SRK’s affection for all the shiny trinkets. He recalled how he sent one of the very first iPhones he received to the Badshah of Bollywood, who later called him and said, “Kya cheez hai ye yaar ye toh… I am ready to marry you.” Okay back to the Aamir-SRK-Toshiba story 😉 The very tech-savvy Shah Rukh suggested to Aamir that he install MS Office and trivial stuff he had never even heard of. Aamir revealed that he didn’t open the device for over five years until he had a new manager who was befuddled at the state of the laptop. It never switched on. At the ABP summit, Khan said, “I’m always behind in terms of technology. My life revolves around stories.”
Aamir Khan tells how he is not at all into technology while SRK is very much into it. When Shah Rukh Khan gave him a laptop in 1996, he never opened it.
