Elon Musk To Open Up AI Assistant Grok To All Premium Users Of X

Elon Musk announced on Tuesday that the artificial intelligence startup xAI’s chatbot, Grok, will now be accessible to all premium subscribers of the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Musk announced in a post on X, providing no further details regarding the expansion. Earlier, Grok was only available to Premium+ subscribers.

As the microblogging platform faces a shift in advertiser behaviour, Musk, the billionaire behind the scenes, emphasises the need to reduce the company’s reliance on advertising revenue. Instead, he’s directing attention towards more appealing subscription plans. Just earlier this month, Musk revealed plans for xAI to make Grok open-source, following his lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing the organisation of straying from its original mission in pursuit of profit.

This move grants the public free access to experiment with the technology’s underlying code and aligns xAI with industry counterparts like Meta and France’s Mistral, both of which have embraced open-source AI models.
