Meta Launches Powerful Llama 3, Making AI More Accessible — What Users Can Expect

Meta, during its AI Day event in London, confirmed the imminent launch of Llama 3 (Large Language Model Meta AI) within the next month. This robust open-source language model is set to fuel various generative AI assistants across Meta’s ecosystem, as reported by TechCrunch.

Speaking at the event, Nick Clegg, Meta’s president of global affairs, expressed, ‘Within the next month, actually less, hopefully in a very short period, we hope to start rolling out our new suite of next-generation foundation models, Llama 3, which will have many different models with different capabilities, different versatilities.’

What to expect from Llama 3?

Meta initially introduced Llama 2 to the public in July 2023, marking its foray into open-source models. With Llama 3, Meta aims to address previous model limitations while introducing new functionalities. Llama 3 boasts a significantly larger scale, potentially surpassing 140 billion parameters, enhancing its capabilities and reasoning abilities. The model is expected to provide more accurate answers and handle a broader spectrum of questions, including contentious ones.

Similar to its predecessors, Llama 3 will remain open-source, allowing developers free access to integrate it into their solutions. However, Meta’s text-to-image/video generation tool, Emu, remains accessible only to select users despite these advancements.
