Google after a long wait has recently launched its most awaited Pixel 8a smartphone in the Indian market. The affordable Pixel phone from the brand comes with an array of features with impressive design. Consumers are always worried about the newly launched phones and their performances and it answers all your questions here we are with a detailed review. At Mashable India have got the chance to get on the device and use it for a good period to bring a comprehensive review of the Pixel 8a and find out whether buying this smartphone is a worthy deal or not.

Pixel 8a Compact Design

First thing first, how does the Pixel 8a stand in terms of design and looks? To answer that question I must say it’s a compact little phone with an impressive look and feel. Unlike the bulky-looking flagship phones, this one comes with a sleek profile and round edges. I have been using the handset for a while now and I’m very much happy to say that the Pixel 8a easily fits in your pocket without peaking out.

The Pixel 8a takes the design inspiration from its elder siblings (Pixel 8 and Pixel 8Pro). The rear panel comes with a camera strip at the top, which consists of dual camera modules along with an LED flash. The frame of the phone is made of metal and seems sturdy enough to handle minor falls. Besides the company has also added antenna design on all sides of the phone making it look more premium.

At the front, the Pixel 8a offers a 6.1-inch display with thin bezels along with a punch-hole cutout design. At the bottom, the smartphone offers a USB Type-C port for fast charging, accompanied by two speaker grills and the SIM tray is located on the left side of the phone. The overall design of the phone is simple and premium.

Pixel 8a Hardware Specifications

Long back Google had decided to rely on other chipset makers for the Pixel series smartphones and started making its own tensor chips. The Pixel 8a takes power from the Tensor G3 chipset which is claimed to offer better performance and handle AI tasks, machine learning, and processing. The smartphone is hooked with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

Besides, the Pixel 8a is juiced by a 4492mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. It also comes with Qi-enabled wireless charging. During my usage, I have received a good battery life of close to 7-8 hours, that too while playing games and watching content. If you are a minimal user then you can even get better battery life.

Camera Performance

The newly launched Pixel 8a comes with a dual rear camera setup with the combination of a 64MP main camera accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens. The camera sensors are capable of capturing videos at 4K resolution at 60fps. While at the front, the 13MP selfie camera is placed underneath the punch-hole cutout design. Pixel series is known for its amazing camera performance and Pixel 8a is nothing less.

During my usage, I have clicked some amazing pictures in different lighting conditions. Thanks to its AI features, I have managed to capture some of the best clicks with the smartphone. Similar to its elder sibling, the Pixel 8a camera app also offers features like Photo Unblur, Magic Eraser, Super Res Zoom, and more. The camera performance of the handset is outstanding and at this price point, it could be a great competition to the rivals.

Over All Performance

The Pixel 8a comes with impressive features and during the review period, I tried throwing all the big challenges to the smartphone and most of the time it was bouncing back. I have used the Pixel 8a majorly for consuming content, watching movies, scrolling reels, and playing games. The cute-looking smartphone managed to survive in all the conditions.

However, during long hours (more than 2 hours ) gaming sessions I have noticed some lags because of overheating. Once you restart the game it works simply fine. I don’t know the exact reason behind the lag but I believe that it could be fixed in the upcoming updates. The performance of the Pixel 8a is impressive and under the Rs 50,000 price point the company is offering a treat to consumers who are searching for an all-rounder compact smartphone with mind-blowing camera performance.
