OpenAI has rolled out powerful new features for ChatGPT aimed at boosting productivity and attracting enterprise users. The highlight is a new “record mode” available to ChatGPT Team users, which lets them capture voice inputs—like meetings, brainstorms, or spontaneous thoughts—and automatically converts them into timestamped transcriptions with summaries, action items, and citations. Additionally, ChatGPT can now access files from Google Drive and Dropbox, enabling users to ask questions about their stored documents, spreadsheets, or presentations directly within the app.
Workspace admins can also now build custom deep research connectors using Model Context Protocol (MCP) in beta.

OpenAI has expanded ChatGPT’s functionality to allow access to files stored in major cloud platforms such as Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, SharePoint, and OneDrive. Users can now pose complex, context-specific questions like “What was my company’s revenue in Q1 last year?” and receive organized, citation-backed responses. The tool respects existing user-level permissions on documents, ensuring security and access control. These features are available to ChatGPT Team, Enterprise, and Edu subscribers.
We’re also rolling out ChatGPT record mode to Team users on macOS.
Capture any meeting, brainstorm, or voice note. ChatGPT will transcribe it, pull out the key points, and turn it into follow-ups, plans, or even code.
Coming soon to Plus, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu.

This move is part of OpenAI’s broader strategy to cement its presence in the enterprise AI market. The integration of cloud storage services into ChatGPT makes the assistant more useful for data-heavy business tasks, from finance to logistics and research. It also reflects OpenAI’s ambition to transform ChatGPT from a conversational tool into a full-fledged productivity and knowledge assistant.
OpenAI’s aggressive enterprise push appears to be paying off, with the company now boasting over 3 million paying users across its business-focused plans. Major firms like Canva, PwC, Block, and Estée Lauder have already signed on. The January 2024 launch of ChatGPT Team broadened access to smaller organizations, helping drive user growth by over a million in just four months.
