China Beats Elon Musk’s Starlink In 6G Laser Transmission From Satellite To Ground: Report

In November 2020, China released the world’s first 6G satellite into orbit. Half a decade later, the country has set a milestone with satellite-to-ground 6G laser transmission. China’s commercial aerospace firm Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co claimed that it had achieved a staggering 100 gigabit per second image transmission rate in its testing during last weekend. It is ten times the previous record and was made between a ground-based truck and Jilin-1 02A02, one of the company’s 117 satellites that make up the Jilin-1 constellation.

Per the company’s head of laser communication, Wang Hanghang, Elon Musk’s Starlink has disclosed laser inter-satellite communication, but they haven’t deployed it between satellites and ground. Remarking on the feat, he described the 100GPs transmission as downloading 10 full-length movies in a second. Wang further stated that the company plans to deploy the laser communication across all its satellites in the Jilin-1 constellation in 2025 and expand to 300 more by 2027.

For perspective, Chinese companies absolutely dominate the EV, 5G, and 6G. Where’s India on the podium? After China teased its cutting-edge 6G aircraft, all the desi netizens could come up with was memes sledging the US over the H1B1 visa issue. How ridiculously have we lost the plot? While we have Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan to brag about, quick commerce firms like Blinkit are launching 10-minute ambulance services, as the state doesn’t have an efficient health infrastructure even after several decades. How pathetic! Population to blame? Henlo ji henlooo! China was the most populous nation for decades until we overtook them a couple years ago! FYI, an Indian minister had promised India would be a 6G nation by 2024. And who else? The reel minister, Ashwin Vaishnav himself. LMAO 😀 We seldom innovate and often brag about taking the lead. No?
