They also chemically treat the bare board to prepare it for electroplating. The drilled holes are then electroplated with copper to fill the empty voids in the traces. The copper coating is then inspected to ensure that it is consistent in thickness and size. If the plated copper isn’t as thick or consistent as it should be, the coating can be reapplied. Once the bare board is ready for assembly, it can be shipped to the customer.
