This contradicts previous speculation that Apple might reduce the size of the feature, which currently holds the front-facing camera and sensors for Face ID and other functions.

Kuo, a reliable Apple analyst, recently stated that the size of the Dynamic Island would remain “largely unchanged” across the iPhone 17 series, though he did not offer further details. However, this prediction contrasts with a previous July 2024 claim by Jeff Pu of Haitong International Tech Research, who suggested the iPhone 17 Pro Max would use advanced “metalens” technology for its proximity sensor, potentially enabling a more compact design for the Dynamic Island on premium models.

For the unversed, Apple introduced the Dynamic Island with the iPhone 14 Pro, replacing the traditional notch. While praised for its functionality, hopes for a sleeker version may be premature, with reports suggesting Apple may focus on a redesign in future models, possibly relocating components under the display. A smaller Dynamic Island may not come until at least next year.
