Sony has officially introduced the Xperia 1 VII, and at first glance, you might mistake it for last year’s model. But while the design stays familiar, this new flagship brings thoughtful improvements that fans of the brand will definitely appreciate. Plus, it’s available in two eye-catching new colors: Moss Green and Orchid Purple.
Sony has kept the essentials that work, like the tall 6.5-inch 4K OLED screen, the dependable 5,000mAh battery, and the triple rear camera system. But under the surface, there are meaningful upgrades that make this a more refined and capable phone.
The camera setup may look the same, but it’s gotten smarter and more powerful. The main sensor still uses Sony’s excellent Exmor T technology, and the continuous zoom lens (85mm–170mm) now allows you to get really close with telemacro focus, just 4cm away at 120mm. The real change, though, is the upgraded ultrawide camera. It keeps the 16mm lens but gets a brighter f/2.0 aperture and a much larger sensor for improved low-light performance and detail.
True quality. Real emotions.

Sony has also packed in its Alpha camera intelligence. That means better real-time eye autofocus for people and pets, improved subject tracking, and more accurate color and exposure thanks to AI. Your photos should now look even better, especially on HDR-supported screens.
Sony fans will be happy to hear the company has stuck with the physical two-stage camera shutter button, and it’s now a bit wider and easier to use. And yes, the beloved 3.5mm headphone jack is still here, now upgraded with better components for cleaner audio. You also get a microSD slot to expand storage beyond the built-in 256GB.
Inside, the Xperia 1 VII runs on the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with 12GB of RAM and a vapor chamber to keep things cool. Connectivity is cutting-edge, with Wi-Fi 7 support and faster Bluetooth for smooth streaming and data sharing.
The 4K OLED display is as stunning as ever but now 20% brighter. Dual ambient light sensors help automatically fine-tune brightness and color depending on your environment. And if you’re into music or videos, you’ll appreciate the improved stereo speakers with deeper bass, tuned with help from Sony Music Entertainment.
Battery life should impress, too. The 5,000mAh cell still supports 30W charging, and Sony promises up to 2 days of use and long-term battery health thanks to features like Xperia Adaptive Charging.
Running Android 15 out of the box, the Xperia 1 VII is set to get 4 major OS updates and 6 years of security patches, making it a solid, long-term pick for anyone wanting style, performance, and reliability in one sleek package.
